With panoramic views of Shrewsbury and surrounding countryside, Hencote is truely one of the most scenic retreats in the West Midlands.
After carrying out work on Hencote’s previous website, it became apparent that the site needed a facelift from both the backend and frontend.
The owners needed a more easily editable system with less bloat and more access to different facets of the content. In addition, Hencote wanted to redesign the site so that it had more emphasis on contemporary design, while remaining intuitive for their target audience.
Building Hencote an 'easy-to-update' website and designing a look that transmitted prestige and beauty.
Design for the Target Audience
An important aspect of this project was implementing stunning contemporary design features. For example, the custom desktop hamburger menu helps illustrate Hencote’s variety of services before navigating onto the page. A consideration we had to make was whether to double down and use video in the menu as well, which was an early suggestion. However, we decided to limit this element to images so as not to heavily compromise on loading speed.
We were able to create a canvas for Hencote’s content. Presenting the client’s stunning imagery within a new canvas really helps to tell the story of Hencote, quite literally on the History of Hencote page.
We've successfully enhanced Hencote's online workflow.
We created a super-fast site which is easy to update and streamlined the eCommerce area, which now automates a lot of the critical tasks that used up valuable time on the previous build.
The success of a website can only be judged on it’s importance to the business and we use common metrics to measure the success of our work. In this instance, our results are the feedback we’ve recieved from the team at Hencote.
